I feel compelled to end Angry Spurlock officially, rather than have it fade away into Internet limbo. There was an elaborate ending planned for the strip years ago (close to when it started, actually), but it hardly seems appropriate to attempt it now. Either way, I couldn't draw it even if I wanted to, and I think it would defeat the purpose for me to attempt to do so by myself.
I think my motivation for this decision is just...not having to consider the site as an option any longer. I'm not saying that it's something I actively work on or anything, but I don't want to feel like, hey, I should make a comic. It is jarring to realize how much things have changed since this page began, so I think to end it now would probably be best. It's not 2004, 2005, or 2006 anymore, and I should just deal with that fact.
I don't want Angry Spurlock to go out in any somber fashion whatsoever. I had a lot of fun working on this comic. It was great to brainstorm strip ideas, work on material, and read all of the comments that people left. I can seriously still look back at panels from years ago and laugh, which is nice.
I'm obviously not trying to make this page out to be something profound or deep or anything of that nature. It was a fun project, and I'm proud of it...even when it made no sense.
To Brendan and Jiayi,
Thank you both for sticking by me, listening to me and caring about me. It's hard to express gratitude without being overtly sentimental or profoundly lame, but that's what I'm trying to convey here. Appreciation for the comfort and commitment you both show to helping me on a regular basis. Thank you.
Thanks for being AngrySpurlock's first/best fan. Seriously, without you, the comic would not have lasted this long.
To former Merivale students/people who stumbled upon this site and commented/read the material:
It was always great to read your feedback, and thanks very much for visiting. Even if you posted comments to say how confused you were, it was still great to hear from you.
To Ben, Ashley, Krista, Liz, and any Lit people who like(d) this page,
I miss you all very much. I don't have the confidence to tell any of you these things in an email/message or whatnot, but I figure this is as good a place as any to be honest. I'm sorry if I've aliented anyone, or done something offensive that has caused a rift or anything like that. I have a feeling that it's probably more of a matter of times/people/circumstances changing than anything else, but I want you to know how much I continue to care about you guys, and wish you all nothing but the best in everything. If you ever want to get in touch, I'm still using the same phone number/email address, etc.
The foam Spurlock head in my room is giving me the old angry face, so I should probably get to the comic now.
Thanks for reading.
